Vision
At Nubian
Village Academy, our vision is to be the leaders in a movement designed
to provide educational experiences for urban students which inspires
students to do more dreaming, thinking, creating, and producing
while recognizing the integrative importance and value of knowledge,
the world, community, family, and self.
Mission
Our mission
is to arm each student with an education that will engage the whole
student and promote a lifetime of learning through a program that
is academically challenging and culturally relevant.
Core
Courses
Each day,
all students K-8 take math, science, language arts, multi-cultural
studies, health and physical education, and social enrichment. In
addition, all courses require students to utilize the computer for
research, multimedia presentations, graphic design, e-mail, etc.
Social
Enrichment
Each day,
students participate in at least one of the following categories
on a rotating basis: a second language, art, leadership, music,
entrepreneurship, community volunteering, and social development
through rites of passage.
§ Languages
include Sign, Ki-swahilli, Arabic, Chinese, Sanskrit, & Spanish.
Students utilize the languages while participating in NVA's Global
Village Program. This program exposes the students , teachers ,
and parents to domestic and international travel.
