Coming off another super fun and highly
successful summer camp season, registration for 2010 Summer Outdoor
Adventure Kamp is now OPEN!!
"2010 Summer Outdoor Adventure Kamp
will offer the core activities that have challenged and rewarded
kids year in and year out, as well as feature some brand-new activities
like Ropes Course Challenges, River Snorkeling & Rock-Hopping Adventures,
Orienteering Challenges, and New Obstacle Courses and Workshops!"
Riverside Outfitters
is thrilled to be partnering with Captain Mike Ostrander of the
James River Fishing School to offer new shallow-water discovery
activities for the campers. Your children will explore the James
River through "Fish-Watching", with Capt. Mike Ostrander. They'll
explore the river to see longnose gar, catfish, smallmouth bass
and schools of shad and minnows from a raft, and even venture into
the water for a closer view using snorkeling gear. They'll track
fish and other animal sightings using their take-home "James River
Fish-Watch Checklist." You'll be amazed at all that can be seen
when you really take the time to look!
We are also very excited to continue
our exploration of the natural world by expanding our Wilderness
Orienteering activities. Campers will learn the fundamentals of
orienteering using compasses and manual navigation techniques all
in the context of a treasure hunt and team-based activities!
Located in the award winning James
River Park System with drop-off and pick-up conveniently located
at the Riverside Outfitters shop. In response to feedback,
and based on our experiences over the past 4 summers, we have decided
to group campers by age ranges and designate certain weeks as ½-day
or full-day options for that given age range. Our age ranges
are: 6-9 years old, 9-12 years old and 13-16 years old. Our Teen
Camp (13-16 year olds) is targeted toward young adults looking for
scaled- up challenges and some space to spread their wings!

Price: $155 (1/2 day), $325 (full day), $200 (Teen).
Our program is designed by the expert
arborists at True Timber Tree Service. Our expert staff use equipment
that is rated for at least 5,000 lbs. and our OSHA approved climbing
systems all have redundant controls. Our camper to instructor ration
is 4:1.
